BAY AREA IMPACT CHALLENGE // GOOGLE 

The Google Impact Challenge is a regional program designed to support non-profits around the world. This was the first US-based challenge, hosted in Google's backyard. Thousands of non-profits applied, and the top applicants moved on to rally their networks and gain votes to ultimately win a share of grant money to help make the Bay Area even better. 

results

  • Generated 200,000 votes to ultimately fund $5mm in awards to 25 non-profits
  • Non-profits saw an average 29% increase in social media supporters

Launching a product as a civic cause

To create mass adoption of a brand new service for Google's most disruptive product launch since Gmail, we focused on the shared value that internet speeds 100 times faster than broadband could bring to the communities of Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. 

Results

  • Over a 7 week period, 802 advocates were activated and over 300 community-hosted events were held
  • Marketing approach was mentioned in the NY Times and Fast Co.
